Protect yourself from HIV

Are you at risk for HIV? The virus that causes AIDS can infect anyone unless you take steps to protect yourself.

The HIV virus is spread by having unprotected sex with an infected partner or by sharing needles used to take drugs.

The best way to protect yourself is to have sex with only one person who:

* Does not have HIV

* Does not have sex with anyone except you

* Does not share drug needles with other people

Use a condom every time you have sex if you:

* Are not sure about your partner's HIV status

* Have more than one sexual partner
