A Bronzing Breakthrough
I spent my childhood and adolescent years soaking up sunshine on the coast of South Carolina. Naturally, during those days my skin stayed a perpetual bronze. But after moving to New York City, any sign of suntan pales in comparison. I know that keeping out of the sun is good for my skin and lowers my risk for cancer, but I can’t help but long for that just-off-the-beach look. So, instead, I’ve been searching high and low for a self tanner that works. I’ve had a few orange disasters; I’ve wasted hard-earned dollars on some duds; but I think I’ve finally found it.
Glow Younger, part of a line of skin products from Dr. Adrienne Denese – a blonde bombshell with a QVC-based cult following – is a self tanner for both the face and body. Unlike other tanners (which usually smell funky and turn everything they touch to orange), this one promises “no smell whatsoever” and the true color of tan – with no orange hue.
An absolute lack of smell is not exactly accurate (there is some smell, though it’s much subtler than others I’ve tried), but its vow to keep me looking natural has proved Dr. Denese a woman of her word. While other tanners instantaneously dye your skin, I’ve been applying Glow Younger to my face and shoulders every couple of days for about two weeks now, building myself quite the natural (looking) tan. Just the other day, someone asked me if I’d recently been to the beach. (No, but I’ll take what I can get!)
Like most of Dr. Denese’s products, Glow Younger is also designed with anti-aging benefits. Its “advanced peptide technology” addresses lines and wrinkles and hydrates your skin. The self-tanner is $32 and can be found at Dr. Denese’s Web site. Giving nod to Earth Day, think of Glow Younger as a greener way to brown.
